If I get the size down to a workable level, the quality takes a dive and it looks terrible and nothing else seems to help - I even remove parts and it barely makes a dent. The banner gif is something I've been trying to fix for weeks now with no luck no matter what I do, I can't get good quality AND size. This would take visitors with a slower 1Mbit/s connection almost 7 minutes to fully download! Trying to play short video clips in a gif file isn't very practical as the file format simply wasn't designed that way.Īs of right now, with that video and banner, your page is over 50MB. If you absolutely require an animated header image you should convert it to more of a slideshow style animated gif. Normally a header image would be around 30-60kB on most sites. It's over 3MB and has too high of a framerate (at a few select points in the animation) for many browsers and older computers to play smoothly. Maybe aim for a target size of around 10-20MB?Īnother issue is your Banner.gif file which is constantly playing/looping in the background while your video is playing below. You should also reduce the resolution a bit as well. Try reducing the quality settings in the application you used to encode the flv clip. It plays smoothly for me using an external player (barely), but is choppy about at times when using your embedded player. The bitrate of this file is just too high for many user's computers to play smoothly. The problem lies with your simuride.flv file which is over 46MB. The video can be viewed on this page, near the bottom of the page. I don't normally have this problem on sites like or most other embedded videos. I've contacted the web hosting provider and they viewed the page and said the video seemed to play fine, continuously without needing to buffer but myself and my client who owns the website have the same problem of it stopping and starting. Stranger still, something I don't recall ever seeing on any other site with an embedded video, where you get the guide that shows you how much is embedded, normally the video only stops when it reaches the end or near the end of that buffer zone - but for some reason the video stops in the middle of that zone, when by all rights, it should be playing fine. I even managed to get the file size of the SWF down considerably from it's previous size and it's still doing it. This started when I was just using the regular embed media feature in Joomla 1.5, so I installed AllVideos and put the video into the page using that - only it still does the same thing. I'm trying to embed flash videos on an online store I'm building but a problem I continue to encounter is the video keeps pausing to buffer.
